If businesses are allowed to legally discriminate based on whom the owners believe to be sinners then those businesses would logically be able to legally discriminate against anyone at anytime and anywhere for whatever sins there are that one could even imagine.
According to my reading of the Bible, all of us are sinners and all of us fall way short and so none of us would ever deserve to be served.
Are we really going to allow for all of that lousy olde nonsense to regain some validity within the laws of our great nation?
Are we all going back to the days when businesses routinely denied their services to anyone any time that they felt like it?
Well then, I think that those proposing such nonsense must be too young to remember and they must be unaware of our history, too.
So, I will say this, "Screw that $%#@". This nation, the United States of America, will never ever be going back to those bad olde days of Jim Crow laws and of legal discrimination. Also, I am patently appalled that so many seem to be either too damned dense or too damned mean spirited to even fully consider all of the wretched implications of such ill advised and ill considered legislation and decisions.
Churches are private associations. Even those who are born into a faith must go through confirmation and be baptized or initiated into the faith in order to gain membership. We, The People of the United States, were mostly born as citizens of the United States. Well, most of us here were born as citizens of the USA and thus as citizens we enjoy all of the inalienable rights afforded citizens and especially including the right to be treated equally under the laws of this nation. Our freedoms, such as the freedom of speech and of religion and of association, are all legally equal and reciprocal. When one goes into business or they incorporate they agree to abide all by the laws that govern trade and commence in the US. People have been doing business with those of all other faiths and other different practices since time immemorial. The very idea that some may extrapolate their private faith upon all of society especially as regards their participation in public commence is untenable. Either a business must offer all of the goods or services that they provide to all of the public or they have no right at all to be in business in the US of A.
This nonsense that businesses can hold a faith is utterly ridiculous and only a lame olde inexcusable excuse for illegality.
Also, bad law will almost inevitably be overturned as we are a nation of laws governed by an iron clad and time tested Constitution.
Slavery was repealed although it took a damnable civil war to settle that unrighteous issue. Still, back when I was a young boy Jim Crow laws in my state allowed for business to "refuse service to anyone". Among other things religious persons used biblical proscriptions against fraternization and intermarriage of the races as excuses for all of those abominable laws. Since The Civil Rights Act of 1964 it has supposedly been settled law that those who engage in commerce doing business with the public could not legally discriminate based upon race, gender, national origin, religion or any other superficial reasons. That has worked just fine for the last fifty years. Now though, some religious persons insist that their own personal definitions of sins should be allowd as legal reasons to deny some sinners their equal protection under our laws and our Constitution. Well, that is complete and utter bullshit. Taken to their logical conclusions those kinds of thinking would allow anyone to deny service to anyone anytime for any reasons imaginable. Well, as long as those doing so imagined those others to be sinners...
All of those lousy olde Jim Crow laws based upon race were unconstitutional. A new Jim Crow based on sexuality is or will be also. Any courts which entertain such nonsense will be overturned. We, the USA and The People of the USA, will damn sure will not be going back there again. Even though some awful unconstitutional laws are quickly being passed in state legislatures all across this nation it will not take so very long to overturn those bad law this time.
The founding principle of these United States of America is that all men and all women are equal under our laws and our constitution.
Equal Equals Equal. It is really not that hard of a concept to comprehend and to understand. Any of those who really do believe that we were all given our inalienable rights by a righteous creator need to consider this. = = = Equal Equals Equal.
